Erica Zylstra

Erica Lynn Zylstra was born June 27, 1969 and died November 4, 2026. Erica was born in Edina Minnesota but spent most of her younger years in Burnsville and visiting family in Clark. Erica moved to Texas in 1991 and worked in the energy field for Tronic, Expro and Master-Flo.
In 2003 She married Marty Owens and in 2006 they had built an home and settled in Weston Lakes. They raised an amazing son Jack Owens who graduated Fulshear High School and is now a Marine. Erica and Jack lost Marty in 2022 and since then Erica has remained in Fulshear and was working for a local CPA firm Sandefur CPA.
Marty and Erica were involved with little league and their community when Jack was younger. They are both loved and missed by many.
She is survived by her son Jack Brady Owens , her brother Corey Zylstra and father Ron Zylstra. She was preceded in death by her mom Carole Benson and her husband John Martin Owen, as well as Marty’s sister Melissa Juenke.
After a cancer diagnosis in August of 2026 Erica fought as hard as she could. She has been surrounded and supported by friends and family especially her Aunt Jean Ford, Uncle Fred Ford, cousin Dr. Lindsey Richards and Michele Frietsch.
Erica was the strongest person you had ever met. She was compassionate and kind hearted but didn’t suffer fools! She was brilliant and beautiful in a perfect combination.
Erika’s Service will be at living Word Lutheran Church at 3PM November 12, 2026. Address is 3700 S Mason Rd, Katy, TX 77450.
Her celebration of life will follow after in the KC Hall at 703 Columbus Rd, Wallis, TX 77485.
She will be missed by all who were given the gift of knowing her.
She will always be remembered by Millie, Ida and Marge as their Betty!
