James Dalton Courts Sr., was born and raised in Jefferson County, Texas, he lived a life filled with passion, purpose, and deep devotion to those he held dear. He shared a marriage with Carolyn Kay Rhymes, and together they were blessed with their son, Buddy Courts. Some of his fondest memories were created on family vacations, soaking in the sun and making unforgettable memories across the Hawaiian Islands and almost all of the Caribbean Islands.
A natural entrepreneur with a creative spirit, he built and ran a successful hair salon, "Kay's Coiffure." Driven by a desire to explore new horizons, he closed the salon after completing his hypnotist studies to embark on an exciting new career. As a stage and entertainment hypnotist, his extraordinary charisma and talent captivated audiences far and wide, leaving behind a trail of laughter, wonder, and joy. Parallel to his stage career, he served as a compassionate Clinical Hypnotherapist, generously using his talents to help clients achieve meaningful personal growth and transformation.
He is survived by his son, Buddy Courts, and his wife, Jomai; his niece, Melissa McCollum (whom he considered a daughter), and her husband, Doug; and his siblings, Willie Kay Gonzales (and her children, Andrea, Amber, and Reggie) and Bubba Courts (and his wife, Cheri, and his children, Cody and Kerry). He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Bertha Courts, and his siblings, Wanda Lucille Courts and Dwayne Courts.
His vibrant energy, innate kindness, and boundless talent touched countless lives. He will be deeply and dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no wake or funeral service. He will be cremated, and his son, Buddy, along with his wife, Jomai, will carry his ashes to Hawaii—a place he so deeply cherished—where they will be scattered in a private family farewell.
