Katy, Texas
Marvin Wayne Kennedy (76) passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer and Crohn’s Disease on August 3, 2023 in Katy, Texas, surrounded by two of the most important people in his life, Marque’ and Ashleigh.
Marvin was born October 4, 1946 in San Angelo, Texas to Earl and Mary Kennedy. He graduated from Lakeview High School in San Angelo, Texas in 1965 and went on to take classes at San Angelo State University. At the young age of 19, he married Pamela Marshall. They were married from 1966 until they divorced in 1991. During this time, Marvin enlisted in the US ARMY. He was part of the 5th Bn 32nd Arty at Fort Riley, Kansas.
After leaving the Army with an Honorable discharge, he went to work for Mrs. Baird’s bread until approximately 1992. This is just after he began dating Pat Brock. They lived together until his death.
For many years, Marvin and Pat lived at her lake house in Hemphill, Texas where he could enjoy boating, fishing, and gardening. And man did he love to fish and garden!!! During this time, he began to work as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He worked there for almost 20 years when he retired as Sergeant. After retiring, he moved to Katy, Texas with Pat and they became devoted Katy Tiger High School football fans. He attended games rain or shine until he could no longer go in person. He then watched every game on Texan Live and participated in a Katy Tiger Facebook group.
Marvin and Pat were together for so many years that Marvin considered her family to be his own and loved them as such. He considered himself to have two daughters Marque’ Barrett, 38, of Katy, Texas, and Jo (Barrett) Lorio, 37, of unknown, along with three grandchildren, Alexander, 36, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ashleigh, 34, of Katy, Texas, and Collin Tremblay, 30, of Katy, Texas, all of which survived him as well as, Patricia Brock of Katy, Texas, her daughter, Kimberly Tremblay and girlfriend, Sammi Satterla of Winnie, Texas.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Kennedy, his sister, Sherry Grosshans, and Pat’s son in law, Peter Tremblay.
The family is having a private service and ask for some quiet time. If you would like to show your respects please send donations to MD Anderson Cancer Center in his name.
